Dear Ladies,

I'm sorry but I do not speak russian but I hope you can read this.

I recently read a book that said women in the old russian republics were having "hymen replacement" surgery so they could appear as virgins to relatives of spouses. I assume this has to do with the old tradition of showing the "bloody sheets" to in-laws... I know Shoe is a lesbian site, but I was just wondering if any of you have heard of this, have known someone who had it done, or may have had it done yourself. I would like to write an article about it for an american lesbian magazine and would like more information.
